Crystal Dream

Such a wondrous dream I had ...

I found myself standing in a cavern of unknown size ... I
could see neither walls nor ceiling, but it felt as though I
was in an enclosed space of infinite proportions ... at
the center of this cavern there was a marble pedestal
which held a faceted crystal ...

This crystal shone with a soft inner illumination that
was the only visible source of light, and its beauty and
radiance fascinated me ... as I stood before it, I could
see that some facets were smooth, their colorful sparkle
clear and bright, yet other facets were still rough and
unfinished, their light somewhat murky and dim ... it
was obviously a "work in progress", not yet fully
polished yet breathtakingly beautiful even in its
incompleteness ...

I extended my hands toward it, afraid to touch it but
drawn to be as close as possible to the radiance it
offered ... so warm was the light, so soothing yet
uplifting at the same time, and the nearer I held my
hands to it, the more its illumination increased, as if
its inner light was being drawn to the surface because
of my wonder and awe ...

And on reflection ( if I may be allowed such a pun ), I've
come to realize that this beautifully faceted crystal
represents my own soul ...some facets are brighter than
others, while others have not yet been "polished" ...yet to
recognize the existence of the soul is the first step toward
enhancing the light that can and does shine from within
whom we are, and we have all of eternity to create whom
we wish to become ...
