Handy as a pocket in a shirt ... this tidbit of
wisdom is a family saying, and once in a while, I
contemplate pockets ... I needed one tonight
while I was in the kitchen and didn't have one,
so I've been thinking about just how *handy* a
pocket would have been ...
I love pockets ... pockets not only carry necessary
things from where they are to where they should be,
they can also contain bits of memory ... or personal
good luck charms or any number of things ...
Pockets come in all shapes and sizes, as shown
by the wide and varied assortments of things,
from the pockets of individual people, to purses
and briefcases, to truck and train and plane
transports ... with a slight stretch to the imagination,
of course ... *whimsical smile*
Prayer bags, and rosaries, rugs and medicine
bags and whatever else they may be called ...
talismans, or would they be amulets ... cupped
hands, even ... and a way to hold something
'close to our heart' ... warm fuzzies, a tangible
touch of a loved one ... *farawaysmile*
Handy, yes ... versatile, too, in the number of
both wants and needs they provide ...
And I can't help but wonder, does anyone else
stop to contemplate such things and be thankful
pockets were invented way back whenever it was,
or am I just further from 'reality' than I'd realized ...
*bemused smile* ...
It felt really good, though ...
being thankful for pockets ...
