Treasure Hunt

I get to go to work in a little while … please note
here that I “get” to go to work … it’s actually an
inevitability, but even so, I might as well see it as
a “get” to …

Since it is inevitable, the very least I can do is
find some fun in being there … everything should
have at least a hint of fun, don’t you think, else why
do it at all ???

I could spend my day wishing to be somewhere
else, and wouldn’t the time just drag by … I’ve
certainly had that happen before, and it didn’t
count as fun at all … so …

What I could do instead is see the day as a
treasure hunt, as a quest to seek out the inner
sparkle of situations and encounters … what gems
might I find to collect today …

A shared smile, perhaps,
an unexpected compliment given,
kind words and work well done …
the joy of connecting with
the Light of the Universe,
and the savoring of the beauty
so evident all around me …
could anything be
more fun, more worthwhile,
or more valuable than these things ???

Of course, truth be told, the last time I attempted
this, my treasure trove at the end of the day
might have been more reminiscent of a scavenger
hunt than a treasure hunt … but you know what
they say … one person’s treasure is another
person’s …

Accumulated collectable, perhaps …
but that’s another mindscape …
